Construction will begin on Monday, August 4, on the new Swamp Rabbit Trail pedestrian bridge over Verdae Boulevard. A week prior, starting Monday, July 28, crews will remove the existing at-grade crossing and close surrounding sidewalks as well as the section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail from the Legacy Connector to Verdae Boulevard.

Construction will continue for one year. While there will be periodic lane closures, traffic will be maintained in each direction for the duration of the project with the exception of one road closure later in the project, when the largest span of the prefabricated bridge will be lowered into place using a crane. That work will be complete overnight.

When complete, the 1,180-foot bridge will span 488 feet over Verdae Boulevard. The $7.4 million project was funded with a combination of state and City Capital Improvement Project (CIP) allocations.
