Spain may have won the World Cup, but the excitement is far from over. More events are on the way at GE Vernova Park, where many of the area’s FIFA World Cup watch parties were held.
The park is home to the Greenville Triumph soccer club and sits next to BridgeWay Station, a plaza that drew thousands of fans for tournament watch parties.
Crowds packed the Marketplace at BridgeWay Station during recent matches, with fans wearing a mix of team colors and jerseys. When Spain scored its first goal, the crowd erupted.
While Greenville was not a host city for the World Cup, local businesses still saw an indirect boost from game-day crowds and related events, including watch parties at BridgeWay Station and activities tied to GE Vernova Park.
Hotels, restaurants and bars benefited from the increased foot traffic, and organizers say the tournament also helped spotlight Greenville’s soccer culture, bringing together fans from different countries and backgrounds.
