Hispanic Alliance launched its Quinceañera Campaign, announcing upcoming events to mark its 15th anniversary.
The organization began as an Upstate community group in 2005 and formalized as a nonprofit in 2010. Its goal is to bolster the Hispanic community and create lasting change. A quinceañera is a right-of-passage celebration marking a young woman’s transition into adulthood at the age of 15.
“This year is definitely more than a celebration,” said Megan Early-Soppa, chair of the Hispanic Alliance Quinceañera Committee. “It’s a testament to our incredible dedication from our partners, our sponsors, supporters, allies. … You all have believed in our vision and an inclusive future.”
The announcement of the anniversary celebration was held May 20 at Hotel Hartness and accompanied by a performance from Student DREAMers Alliance alum and It’s By Brily owner Bri Garcia.
Anniversary events begin in the fall and continue through winter. Here’s what’s to come:
- Art for a Cause will run from Sept. 1-Oct. 31 at Good Art Co. and highlight Latin artists.
- La Fiesta will occur Sept. 12 at Hotel Hartness. It will be a dance party spotlighting Latin music and feature live music from Latin Soul Band and an art exhibit.
- Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15, amplifying Hispanic individuals involved in the arts, education, business and public service.
- Concert & Celebration will take place at Camperdown Plaza Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. The event will be a lively celebration of cultural performances and tradition.
- Homes for the Holiday Tour fundraiser is planned for Dec. 13 at various residences in the Alta Vista Neighborhood. The homes will be decorated according to Hispanic tradition.
